Promise Me
It comes like a tornado
Destroying every credo
It tears apart families
An infinite number of casualties
Those that get left behind
Never get realigned
Stuck in the past
Their demons never let them pass
The clock’s pendulum swings to and fro
Tick tock it will go
Time goes slow, time goes fast
But they are still lost in the past
The lights will flicker, on and off
Those unaware will simply scoff
But you and I know that time is no mate,
It moves at an alarming rate, it won’t wait
And if I too, in this havoc, get lost
Promise that you won’t greet me with indifferent frost
And if I too lose my way in the sea of pitch black
Promise that you won’t leave me alone in the wreck
And if I too become a wandering soul
Promise me that you will bring me back
