He Who Must Not Be Named
A father
is his daughter’s first love
not the reason she stops loving
A father
is his son’s first hero
not the reason he’s so afraid
and he stops believing in the word
A father
protects his kids
cherishes them
and is not the reason
they even need protecting
A father
does not make his sons
want to run away
A father
does not make his daughter
leave scars on her shoulder
And a true father will never
Leave his children crying
wondering why
they weren’t good enough
and wondering why
those woman’s kids
were better than them
and why they deserved his affections
and time
and devotion
when they weren’t even his
Wondering
what they could have done
should have done
to make him want to stay
and wondering what they did
to make him leave
A father
will not leave his kids
broken
and scared
and empty
and alone
My “father” is not a father
he is Voldemort
