I Am From Brilliant Blue Skies
I am from Thanksgiving in Sanibel
From finding seashells with Nonnie
And brilliant blue skies
I am from party planning with Caroline
From practicing flute on the piano bench
And skiing into sparkling, cold snowdrifts
I am from swinging on sore, chalky hands
Sweaty leotards
And knotted muscles
I am from soft brown chairs
From fuzzy blue blankets
And long hours lost in books
I am from making latkes and matzah ball soup with Auntie Jess
Crispy sweet apples and the scent of muffins fresh from the oven
And steaming tea on late nights
I am from guinea pigs
Enthusiastic dogs
And shy cats
I am from the aerial sling
Tangled silks
And sudden drops
I am from photo albums
Unfinished scrap books
Pictures
I am from stained glass windows
From voices weaving into song
And the lilting murmur of Hebrew prayers
I am from gravity attack
Right paw
And change is good
I am from fiery orange, red, and pink sunsets in New Hampshire
From graceful trees bending in the wind
And laughter
