"How many times have people used a pen or paintbrush because they couldn’t pull the trigger?" - Virginia Woolf

Well if I had a choice I’d rejoice and sing in the streets
I’d paint every wall and never be discreet
I’d plant blooms and blow balloons for clowns
I’d give sound a chance and never let people push me down
but that’s not me
that’s isn’t who I’ll be
I like the silence, not the noise
I like the packaging, not the toys
I like the ice, not the cream
I like to smirk, not to beam

I’m no theresa and that’s fine with me, cause’
I’m no saint I’m just me
I not here to meet your expectations
So I can get  your appreciation
What a false sensation,
to paint the town red when I want it green
to say what you said not what I mean
to take away my grit so I’ll be clean
Well that won’t happen until you take my spleen

Well If I had a choice I’d lose my voice singing praises of the unheard
I’d paint portraits of the poor and assure the self assured
I’d talk about compassion in life and forgiveness in death
I’d never tell people they were a** holes or self obsessed

but that’s not me
that’s isn’t who I’ll be
I like the silence, not the noise
I like the packaging, not the toys
I like the ice, not the cream
I like to smirk, not to beam

I’m no theresa and that’s fine with me, cause’
I’m no saint I’m just me
I not here to meet your expectations
So I can get  your appreciation
What a false sensation,
to paint the town red when I want it green
to say what you said not what I mean

I’m not your peace in the middle east
I’m not your gallavant gallery’s matisse
I’m not your compassion mandala sand
I’m not the leader of  your marching band
that’s not me
that’s isn’t who I’ll be
I like the silence, not the noise
I like the packaging, not the toys
I like the ice, not the cream
I like to smirk, not to beam

I’m no theresa and that’s just fine with me, cause’
I’m no saint. I’m just me.
