I watch from the nightstand

As your breathing slows
Your muscles relax
You surrender to slumber
Just as you once gave in
To the pressures of society
And now you are here
And I am all that you have

They tricked you
It was not just a phase
The bitter taste of reality
Awoken in all of them
And the rest ran
But I remain
So you turn to me
The unending addiction

But I can only numb the pain
