Raising Pokemon
I insert the cartridge in my Gameboy Advance.
As my videogame starts up,
I'm given a choice
To choose one of the pokemon,
a choice between Charmander, Squirtle, orBulbasaur.
I choose Squirtle,
over a rigorous six months, I fiddle with buttons
training my virtual pet,
sacrificing time intended for tests,
Fightiing against bosses and
video game antagonists
proving my pet Squirtle's worth.
I raise my Pokemon to level
One-hundred as if it were my own child.
I feel a sense of joy,
as my pocket monster has grown up.
