ecclesiastes 3:11

Who is the girl in that little red dress,
with skeleton rings ‘neath her eyes?
Was she born with love and warmth from a womb,
or was she conceived from the sky?

Watch how tightly she holds herself,
see her cold body shake.
Does it understand something that we do not?
Does it echo an internal earthquake?

Who is this daughter with her arms crossed over,
glaring so sadly at the world?
If you shout her name, will she turn 'round?
Does she know she looks more shadow than girl?

Those bright blue pills she swallows so calmly,
her tired headache hung,
Do they whisper happier thoughts?
Have they become sweet on her tongue?

Her lips have forgotten how to stay a grin;
when eyes leave, the smile fades.
A ghost leaned over and scratched her arm,
leaving notice of hollowed days.

Who is this girl with such desperate eyes,
glancing a silent plea?
Where did she come from, this evicted soul?

What was she forced to leave?
