to the author, age 14
who taught you to hate
yourself more than the
person who did you wrong?
who taught you to pit
yourself against others and
think ugly thoughts about
the girls in your class?
who taught you to judge based
on how much acne they didn't cover
or how straight their eyeliner is?
who taught you that your dreams
were better than hers just
because they're different?
here's some advice:
don't make yourself laugh at
their jokes. we both know you
never found them funny.
don't listen to them when
they say you're prettier with
longer hair. you know best for
you.
don't forget to take care of
yourself when you're busy
being somebody else's life
raft.
don't drown under all
the pressure you put on
yourself. don't let yourself
die just to get a trophy.
in just a few years you won't
know everything. and you still
dont feel like yourself. don't
worry though.
you're getting there.
