The sky was dark.
The moon was full.
And Larry was inside, watching Netflix.
Lila was outside, picking roses
From Larry's prized bushes.
She picked them angrily,
Like they had somehow hurt her by existing.
Larry was oblivious
What an idiot.
Lila threw a rose at Larry's window.
He saw the shadow briefly,
Paused Forrest Gump
(What a nerd, right)
And slammed the window up.
Lila knew she was caught
And didn't really give two craps.
"Come and get me, loser!"
She yelled at the innocent, somewhat boring Larry.
Larry was willing to fight.
He stepped outside,
"Hey punk, fight me," he said meekly
Larry is a dork.
Lila sneered at him
"Report me, ya little twerp."
"I'm not 'little', I'm 23," retorted Larry, that moron.
"You're also pretty stupid," replied the vicious rose-cutter.
Larry said "why are you so angry, random girl?"
She shrugged, "Can you listen?"
He shrugged too. "Why not."
"My problem is that no one listens to me."
"That's a stupid problem."
"Screw you."
"Just punch them and then they'll listen."
"That's out of character, Mr. I Love My Crappy Rosebushes guy."
He grinned,
because he really did love his crappy bushes.
"I'm listening."
"Okay," said Lila, "so there are no good movies on Netflix."
"Is that your worst problem?"
"Are you judging me already?"
"You judged me by my rose bushes, angry lady."
"They're regularly pruned," she said with distaste
"I have a gardener?"
"Yeah. Now listen for real," said Lila
"Alright, spill."
"I feel alone all the time. And nobody cares if I exist."
"I care."
"Bull."
"How else could I have such a nice conversation
At midnight, by my crappy bushes?"
Lila smiled a little
Larry smiled too, because Lila was
Pretty? When she wasn't destroying his property
He leaned down, and,
In an uncharacteristic gesture,
Picked a rose
And gave it to Lila with a crooked smile
"Here."
"Fine."
She threw it on the ground.
"I'd rather have your company than a stupid rose."
And they watched Forrest Gump till the sun lit the sky.

It's only fitting that I wrote this right before Valentine's Day, right?
