Dear sixth grader,
I hope you're at peace now.
I hope that your pain and misery has ended.
I hope that you know that we miss you.
A lot.

You must have been funny.
Or even cute and sweet.
Maybe you were really smart too.
But I know that you weren't disgusting.
Or ugly.
Or just plain old stupid.

I know that you were in pain. And that you felt like no one understood you.
But please trust me when I say this.

You were different.
You were unique.
You made someone's day, even if you didn't realize it.
You were loved by your parents.
And by your family.

We all miss you so much.
Many are crying.
And many are lying.
Someone must have done this to you.
But don't worry, time will soon reveal our biggest secrets.

And we will never forget you. Rest in peace, our dear sixth grader.

The author's comments:

This is in memory of a sixth grader at my old school who sadly decided to commit suicide. I just wanted to feel like her life meant something..... and ANYTHING in this world other than a cold, lifeless punching bag for bullies. I wanted to show the world that she was an amazing girl who never should have left and that we all miss her, no matter who we are. She would have changed the world one day, if only someouhhne would have believed in her. Maybe we could have caught her sooner before she fell too hard.
