If I were made of glass
and people could see inside of me
what would they say
would I seem different to them
would my friend
still be my friend
if she knew I loved her?
would my teachers even try
if they knew how little I cared
my strange thoughts
my random impulses
that I control so carefully
I couldn’t let everyone see
Those who I judge
would hate me for my thoughts
The ones I’m too polite to say
My closest friends
they would abandon me
The harsh thoughts I hide
Behind a perfect smile
And a clever joke
would break bonds
that are weaker than string
it doesn’t take much
My parents
would they stand by me
I think so
They’re the only ones who know everything
if I were glass
It would be easier
I wouldn’t have to lie
I wouldn’t have to smile
When I want to yell
or maybe cry
or just sit alone
If I were glass

We all give a facade to those we speak to, nobody shows their entire true selves. What would happen if everyone knew everything?
