guess what

time it is?

Time to give the clock

its play-time

Time to turn away

from the rigid face of a

(Tick-tock)

Time to let time

slide ribbons past your eyes;

Let time fade with the texture of the clouds,

the wink of the stars

guess which

tree this leaf fell from?

But how could you be expected to recognize

any difference among the leaves beneath your feet,

and the one in my hand?

How could you be expected to understand

her simple worship of the tree

Under which she stands?

How could you be expected to accept

the hearth-fire's blazing warmth

of a Home

Thousands of miles from familiarity?

guess whose

turn it is to talk?

Not yours

so shut up and let the melodies

stream through your fingers,

Let her enjoy your concentration

in the overly grand halls

to impress an audience of one

Because she loves you best

when you speak without words

guess who

tells lies without regret,

kisses darkness for its crimes?

Your guess is as good as mine-

but as you open your mouth to reply,

I'll stop you, smile, and say

guess again
