I walk down that old dirt road

Nothing but silence, and a warm breeze

I feel the warm sun on my skin,

And the dirty, wind in my long blonde hair

I wear my usual shorts, and T-shirt

I walk alone

With no one behind or infront of me

No shoes on my small dirty feet,

I feel the dirt in my toes,

The wind on my legs,

The warm sun on my body,

And the beautiful sunshine as I close my eyes and think...

I think about my future

About, my horrible past

And, about the way I could change my outcome

Change it into something extraordinary.

I then stop, open my eyes, and breathe

The sun so bright I can hardly see

The wind so nice and smooth, it's great to breathe

I begin to walk again

As I walk down that lonely dirt road,

I remember the very few good times I've had

I start to close my eyes,

Take another deep breath.

I remember when i was a little girl,

Too short to sit at the table

Too young to understand the word different

Too boyish to play with dolls

My dad used to pick me up,

And swing me like a pendulum and,

That night my beautiful mom would sing to me like a choir of angels

Sing me right to sleep, and help me have the best dreams

Again I stop, and open my eyes

I look forward, backward, and all around me

I see no one and,

I think about what my mom would sing, so, I began to do the same

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine

You make me happy, when skies are grey

You'll never know dear, how much I love you

So please don't take my sunshine away

And then I turn around

And take a deep breath,

I put my left foot out....

And begin to walk.
