On the Other SIde
She saw it in the mirror,
at first she did not mind
but soon it made her quiver,
as she thought it just might be her kind.
She stared, amazed
by the things it would say,
and to herself she would cry and sigh,
hoping that everything would be okay.
It followed her to the bone
the imitations quite precise,
she almost turned to stone
when it judged her for her size.
She stared, amazed
by the things it would say,
and to herself she would cry and sigh,
praying that everything would be okay.
For what was in her sight,
that deep, dark fear,
stabbing her like a spear.
this was her constant fight
She stared, amazed
by the things it would say,
and to herself she would cry and sigh,
begging that everything would be okay.
By the time she healed,
slowly and with pride,
she could see it starting to peel.
And under that monstrous hide
lay herself on the other side.
No more did she cry and comply
to the remarks of others,
she picked herself up and rose higher.
nothing could touch her
as she passed Olympus
Nothing could stop her, not anymore
not even the thing that hurt her before
she had made it to the other side
