"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." - Albus Dumbledore

You’re only desperately reaching and soaring
lusting after
plying apart love for it
Dwelling on nothing
while life recedes away from under the glittering feet of human journeys
till your head throbs
to a point of undefined madness,
dizzying and dazzling an whirling and licking up like flames in the pit of a fainting sob

A bucket of spilled paint ebbing its way up a blank canvas
of you
You writhe and twist in painful emotion
for this thing, this pursue
It should be as wide and wavering as the ocean
and spreading in your arms till you
can’t contain it;
A sponge in a tiny cup of dew

Perhaps a sparkling touch of divine light
or a vision of the sun in the end
A taste of devouring bite
bounces you high till you are light and paper thin.
Every color on the face of this thing
illuminates your thirsting soul,
should be shining cold sane relief.

Dwelling on nothing,
while life recedes away from under the glittering feet of human journeys
The choirs of the head scream and scream again
“No!”
But despite this swirling warning, your eyes drip with unsuppressed hope
Until you see the end and reel back, but don’t slow
Only to plummet straight forward over a sheer black cliff
as sheer as the realization;
every last gleaming diamond of life,
wasted,
pining for something unattainable

For something.
Something of displaced want
Something by which you ripped through poignancy and simplicity of real life.
Of real jaunt.
Of real flight.
But, naught.
A fine frenzy of utter waste
And to know you lived a lifeless life
for desiring blithe
