letting go

i.
a ghost from life
put me on a ferocious need,
a frantic journey.
he haunts my mornings,
my days,
my nights.
i work to smile,
he lingers in my desire
as an angel.
but when this picture fades,
i see him as he
truly was.
ii.
i have embraced
the throbbing ache,
which is vast.
remembering the
joyous times brings me
to my knees.
old, sacred voices
whisper in my dreams,
“let go.”
my need has dissipated,
epiphanies let peace descend
over my heart.
