I was lying in bed and this story (about a girl with a terminal illness whose last wish is to see the Grand Canyon with her mother) just kinda popped into my head, so I wrote the story intro in the Notes app on my phone. The next day in my creative writing class I broke it down into a poem for my portfolio.
