Hope Burned in Me
I'm a princess
cut from my past,
my battle a chaos
within the storm.
and the scars that
mark my body,
they're silver and gold.
I run for my life
but always look back
at the darkness chasing me.
when I try to think,
my thoughts gain control
and prepare for an attack.
everything is soaked in fear,
but the love won't make it right,
so I hide behind the noise
that no one else can hear.
but still my Hope has embers,
burning at the bottom of my soul;
it keeps my veins hot,
while my body returns to cold.
I refuse to stop chasing,
for my Hope is an infinite desire
that survives on nothing but life,
and will someday age
into a blazing fire.
