Stop and Think, "What If?"
our parents are always right,
right?
- doubt runs through my mind
like a river.
what if...
what if the kids are always right?
the swinging parties
and passed remarks
society changed,
but so has the dark.
our parents know us,
right?
- hesitation is etched in my face
like a picture.
what if...
what if the kids
don't even know themselves?
expectations send us astray
and the sadness
only we can see,
everyday.
what if our only job
is to grow apart
from the ones who were there for us
everyday?
