The Thief Of Hearts
Love came to my heart like a thief,
I was not aware of how, when or why,
But one thing is true,
My mind was filled with the thought of you.
When your skin brushed mine,
I felt your warmth and then
Something was taken.
I think you pocketed my heart.
Without permission, I fell in love
A love that can’t happen,
A person, I shouldn’t fall for.
I’m fearful, watching for your every move,
Hiding in the dark,
Looking for a chance,
To let out my heart.
I look at you and wonder,
Why does my heart beat differently,
As if my chest is going to explode.
Every time you smile at me,
I can’t help but smile too
Despite the hurts,
And a little dying in my heart here and there.
If you only knew, but then
It might hurt more.
