I’ve tried
to figure out what love is.
I think I found a black hole
in my soul

yet the grass
is new tomorrow
and the dew
knows how to wash the yesterday away.

I roll over and think it’s morning
but it’s only 3 am? and I have 4 more hours to let my mind loose-

when I rise
I see my reflection
in the subway car
and frown.

But the wind was this perfect breeze-
I almost didn’t feel it,
but my hair was brushed across my collarbone
and my nails were painted white.

I drove for 12 hours
and found nothing
in all these people,
colored canvases,
I guess I am colorblind.

I searched,

I searched.
I cried and I loved
and I found
the water crashing against the side of the boat
out on the lake
in late August.

I found
four dead flowers
in a glass jar
with a metal hook to carry them by.

I found myself
running
along the Seine in Paris
for 90 minutes
and so many people were around me
and I ran
and ran
and ran.
