24 hrs
A glass milk container with one drop—
Lolling back and forth.
A deep breath of frigid air,
Laughter from the mouths
of outlaws, gamblers, and thieves,
While the children have iron inside them,
So all they can do
Is bleed.
Long walks down never-ending streets,
A peachy tongue kissed with snow,
Stare at it till it can’t be seen anymore.
Home, naked, frostbitten.
The furniture stares.
The TV flickers
Against pale skin
“That was funny.”
And then turn it off again.
Steam and running water,
The noise is loud against
A broken voice box and a party of one.
Incline slips in the tub
Till eyes are barely there—
One last look…
And the world
Falls
Dark.
Do you have all that you want?
