"Ignorance takes over common sense in the modern world."

There's darkness in your mind

Like an ubreakable bind.

Fear is only in your head,

There are no monsters under the bed.

The monster is you,

And you know it too.

Tie strings around your finger,

Or the memory will never linger.

Dry your eyes,

Don't listen there's only lies.

Irridescent light

There is no fight.

A mental battle,

Do not tattle.

No others know the pain.

For you have lain

Your soul to the ground

And there is no sound.

But the burst of the bullet

From your musket.

Tick tick

All you hear is a click.

Time runs down on the clock,

Floading the dock.

Run run, run away girl

Only the pain will unfurl

Its wings will take you in the sky,

And darling you have never been that high.

You fall so hard you break a bone,

And never have you felt so alone.

Peace be broken,

Don't take this token.

The things you lack

Will stab you in the back.

Don't say it hurts less than a broken bone

When you feel alone.

You cannot kiss away the pain

That has lain

Deep in your heart

You will never part

For you are stuck.

And you must duck

Their words are thrown.

And you will forever be sewn

Together.

Because you are the tether

To the anchor,

That is your sinker.

Drowned,

Pulled to the ground,

Don't make a sound.

Youa re a buzzing in their ear,

That no one chooses to hear.

And if you dare make a sound,

They will bury you beneath the ground.

Six feet under,

This is no blunder.

Dear,

Don't you hear?

Don't shed a tear.

Because all they do is leer.

There will never be safety

For you are dainty.

I'm sorry you have to hear this,

But there is no bliss,

No remedy

For the memory.

Chase your broken dreams.

You are falling away at the seams.

Take out the stitches,

And without any glitches,

You fall.

And darling, you used to stand so tall.

Why won't you stand?

Honey, no one will ever help you land

The ship that carries your soul,

For it takes a very great toll.

Judgent lies

In the eyes

Of man,

And are you a fan

Of their words,

That are nothing but birds?

That twitter,

And flitter,

But never wither?

You say you're nothing,

But I think you're bluffing.

Don't hide,

Because they all lied.

They love you,

They have to.

Because maybe you never made the right decision,

And all your life may have been a vision,

Someone else's dream,

And it would seem,

Like that's all there is,

But I tell you, there's bliss.

There's light,

If you continue to fight.

I know you can make it,

You can take it.

Before you give up,

Look up.

There's beauty in you,

And I know you'll find love in there too.

I know some things seem blue,

To you.

But that's the inward voice,

Telling you you have no choice.

They say there's no place for you in this world,

But I think if you hurled

All your might,

You will win this fight.

The names

Are just the blames

From their self-hatred

They're nothing but putrid.

But you are a star,

So high and far,

Away from the blames,

And the names,

The rumors

And the humors.

How can they get a kick

Off of giving a lick

At someone so small,

Just so they feel tall?

That I can never understand.

Life is so bland,

Unless we take it,

And make it,

Oh so bright.

There's never been that much light.

And now, nothing will give you a fright.

But first you must believe they were wrong

Because never has it taken you this long

To remedy

The painful memory.

And because of all their lies and deceit,

You found it a hard feat,

To rise above

Their hatred with no love.

And I think highly of you

But only if you would see as I do.

Then you would see just how truly beautiful you are.

And you will never be far

From the edge of the cliff.

As if we can climb the skiff

And say we can fly.

But we never seem to quite make it to the sky.

Beause we are broken and torn,

Worn,

By the names

And the blames,

The rumors

That grew like tumors

In our brain.

These broken panes

Of the house we call our shell,

Because we needed somewhere warm for when we fell.

We always say we're alone,

But like a broken bone,

We mend together

With a tether.

Maybe we lost someone,

Or felt like no one.

Or maybe we never felt like somebody

In the explicity

Of life.

Because sometimes it was a knife

To your heart,

And maybe you never felt smart.

Maybe you were the kid in the back of class,

Who always felt like broken glass.

Maybe you were the kid who cried,

But always lied,

Because the kids were cruel,

And thought nothing of you but a tool.

And underneath,

You fell beneath,

The lies

Until you realize

They were lies,

The mask of the truthful beauty that is you.

I wish you could see as I do.

I want to help by breaking the binds that hold you back.

Because never have I seen you lack

Anything above perfection.

This part of your life is just a section,

Forget the imperfection,

That felt like an infection.

You flaws,

Have never met the laws,

That say beauty is imperfections.

Don't flip through the sections

Of your life, trying to skip,

It's just a blip.

And if you let it slip,

How you felt,

It may be dealt,

With the ideology

Of psyciology.

We need

And we breed

Our love and despair,

As small as a hair,

That grows as big as a bear.

And it manifests itself

On your shelf

Of lists of everythig you hate.

As if it's too late

To find remedies

For the painful memories.

I swear it's not too late.

Please forgive their hate.

They are blinded by judgmental eyes,

Filled with lies.

And they'll never understand how big your heart is,

They've never experienced the bliss

Of your smile.

And I would run a mile,

Every hour for that smile.

I will never stop running,

Running,

Scremaing your name,

Taking the blame,

Trying to describe the beauty that is you.

Others can see it too.

You've only always been amazing,

And while they stay lazing,

And grazing,

Their field,

They will never know the power you yield,

Because they see the label,

And listen to a fable,

Before they see true.

And no, I don't think we'll ever be through

Their hatred

Will follow like a very putrid

Smell.

As they can tell,

They never go away,

But we must never sway.

They don't know us,

And thus,

Like this,

There is bliss.

The author's comments:

Several things inspired me to write this poem. Growing up, I always felt like I was living in my sister's shadow, I was bullied, and I felt like I was living a life others picked for me. I was depressed for the majority of my life and I couldn't see a future for myself. But eventually, with a little help, I got better. However, during my recovery, I realized that no one really could help me, because in the end, the only person who could help me, was me. This poem is what I would say to myself if I could go back to that time.
