Take Me Back

Sunrise escaping through undone curtains
Palm trees dancing along with the wind,
Wind sweet talking the flower petals to run away with it
Let this journey begin
Wooden doors creaking with each touch,
The emotions running back in a rush

Sunlight reflecting on mirrors spilling colors everywhere,
The night lamp grandma turns on to braid my hair
The starlights who dance with each other every night are my favorite lovers,
I theorize they love each other like no other

The older the guitar the sweeter the music,
You can't escape music here,
It's played on the corner of everywhere
The laughter, the gasps
Relatives that reunite after 20 years
Too many conversations drown your ears
The heartwarming moments you'd wish would last,
Did my ancestors give as much thought on the future as we try figuring out the past?

El Salvador cured Mom's nostalgia,
Yet filling thoughts of my own homesickness
I walk on land I know nothing about,
I didn't want to miss out
So I opened my mind to the culture,
Their reasonings, their traditions, their gestures
Opened my soul to their music,
My heart now pouring out the memories
Take me back
Take me back
Take me back to the motherland
