The fire rises,
Out from the flames crawls an Angel.
She curls and writhes,
And the burns leave their scars.

The ice grows over the hearts,
Of another Angel,
A he cries,
The metal bites.
The scars grow,
As the pain ebbs away.

Feathers rain down,
As she takes to the skies,
Up above the clouds,
But she flew too high.
Tumbling down to the ground she left behind.

The dark night lengthens,
Growing ever colder.
Together we shiver,
Huddled together in our corners.
Murmuring elegies,
For the souls that we once were.
