My ears catch the distant thunder
Rumbling with anger
And frustration
When I was younger                   My mother once told me that thunder
Is just the sound of angels bowling in heaven
The roaring overhead does not remind me of bowling              It  does not sound like any fair game
It brings to mind angels that are seething with rage
Empyrean beings                  That are struggling to knock each other out
Of the endless ebony sky
When one falls it leaves behind a trail of blinding lightning               Speeding across the sky
Electrifying the ground when it reaches earth
Burning hotter than the yellow sphere in the daytime sky
Alighting trees in a funeral pyre
And the rain
Is God pissing down on the earth
