I thought I was free of you
Misconceptions,
I lie in ruins,
I have not been myself for
Days? Years?
The tatters of my
Woven threads of your
The memories of our
Silence.
Reverberation.
It echoes against my ribcage,
Flutters against the bones like a
Bird,
Desperate to be free
Of it’s cage
But it died long ago.
And I think it took me with it.
The anxiety took the shuddering breaths from my
Hands as I held yours,
Held you,
Felt your heartbeat,
Stars in your eyes as you said
You’re worth it
And blood in mine as I said
So are you.
