"Drugs are harmful."
"Drugs are bad."
Repeated over and over,
Kinda like a mantra.
Repeated over and over,
Like the tick-tocks of a clock.
Tick-tock, tick tock.
Repeated over and over,
Or like the ticking of a bomb.
Tick, tick, tick.

"Drugs are harmful,
Drugs are bad."
Why repeat them when words always lose meaning?
It's like the tick-tock of clock,
Slowly driving you insane.
Or like the ticking of a bomb,
Slowly getting closer.

"Drugs are harmful,
Drugs are bad."
Every corner turned they are said.
It's like the tick-tock of the clock,
Inescapable.
Or like the ticking of a bomb,
Before it blows.

"Drugs are harmful,
Drugs are bad."
Words no longer heard, words no longer said.
It's like the tick-tock of a clock,
Finally gone.
Or like the ticking of a bomb,
That finally blew.

I was inspired to write this piece after a conversation with my mom (she's a psychologist) about addiction.
