“[Writing about themselves] gives them wings, so that they can rise above the confounding maze of their lives and, from that perspective, begin to see the patterns and dead ends of their pasts, and a way out."
- Wally Lamb

There she is; the dark-haired angel
Amid the silent screams
that inhabit the dreaded hallways
We stand,
Waiting for the oblivion to end
For the lines of our text to stop their scrolling
For the scarlet threads to cross

And here I am; the brown-haired demon
Listening for her loudest whisper
I remain here until it reaches me;
It’s tendrils grasping me by the hand
Pulling me towards her abyss
Into her innocently enticing nothingness

So here we are
On opposite ends of our own
dreaded hallways
Silently screaming,
Our loudest whispers murmuring through the inbetweens
the scarlet threads weaving,
In and around the unbroken silence
We still stand,
Forever waiting for the others oblivion
