I (do not) matter

I need to be my own therapist.
How can you? You’re a fool.
You haven’t experienced enough
happiness to know how to conjure it.
I need to talk to someone.
Have fun with that!
The only person you’re really talking to, is me.
I need to work harder.
You already do, and your grades are still horrible.
Terrible, even.
I need to smile more and mean it.
Honey, the only thing radiating from any
of your smiles is the sadness
that’s burrowing inside you.
I need to know that I matter.
Well, you don’t. You never will.
