Gone in Spirit MAG
I always wished my parents would divorce.
My mom would take the keys and the
vintage radio that always sounded
fuzzy to me
And probably most of the money, too,
But leave my dad with the house,
And my sister and me,
And the friendship bracelets I’d made her that she’d never worn:
All the things she didn’t want.
Instead I have spent every day for the
last seventeen years
Cleaning up after a mother
Who’s only gone in spirit.
