I am from Binky, a small stuffed rabbit, that I’d lose, but find
One that matches me in years, since my conception
One once vibrant, but now faded
I am from being a child with no siblings, loneliness and playing alone
One that had imaginary friends, for quite a while
One who’d grow up to prefer my own company
I am from a hellish cat out for blood
One orange with eyes of evil
One that would mark my skin with bloody scratches in response to my love
I am from an insignificant home that I once loved
One with brick walls once appearing colossal
One with moldy insides, making me sick

I am from nightmares each night, filled with terror

From constantly tripping, and always running from what was inside
I am from spending all day in the woods, looking for fantasy
From escaping after breakfast to my Dad’s whistle signaling dinner
I am from friends that were all boys
From playing rough and getting dirty
I am from tea parties with my uncle, to him hanging
From my confusion clearing up, into a heart shattering realization of reality
I am from being up in the night, listening to countless arguments
From my pillow up against the door to listen
I am from watching the ones I love ingest poison
From day after day, night after night
One day to believe it was normal
One day to follow in their footsteps
