Dim and dark
on sunken wings
the melting glow
of tears on skin
and dint of pressure
grasping spare
and turning raw
those gaping eyes
stinging the sight
of what is right in front of us.

The author's comments:
Though this is a poem about crying, I don't see it as a specifically negative way. I wrote this after a difficult time in my life, where the crying was not only about grief, but a sense of renewal and clearing my vision. Thank you for reading.

"when nothing goes right... go left."

that poem was really raw, this is why you appreciate what people have to say.

i understand what you are saying about crying not being all negative.  People cry at a wedding for happiness, i cried when i realized my twin brother wasnt dead, ect.  Happiness brings tears too.

The beauty of grace is that it make life not fair.

Such truth in this. I am glad that it is concise, it sums everything up so well.

This poem is short and it doesn't have any specific rhyming pattern or rythm, yet it is still an amazing piece of work! Keep up your  writing and congrats on getting into the magazine - this poem definately deserves a front cover spot!

i was drawn to this poem because of the word 'color'. in my lit class we are reading The Book Thief, and colors are a big part of that story. its ironic to me that tears, the fluid that exits body when we cry, is clear. there is no color, so to have a title The Color of Crying, is really ironic.
