Little Red Bird

I am a little red bird
you will notice on the way to work
or maybe
while walking your dog and
you will quickly note and take account of its
beauty and I swear I have a beautiful
mind but then you will go on your way and
forget all about me and so it is with life because
we are all little red birds and
the saddest part is there is no busy man
on his way to work or a small child
cradling a dog’s leash
to notice us and our
pretty, pretty little red feathers
that look a lot like
little red blood-stained knives
when you get close.
