Who Are You?
I used to like you
when you were just that:
you.
I used to like you
when you paid attention,
when you were nice,
when you spent time with me,
when you were average but
the best person I knew.
And then one day,
you were discovered.
One day,
you became popular.
One day,
you changed your lifestyle,
your attitude.
And I didn't know you anymore.
You became a bully,
a monster,
twisted by popularity.
I realized the truth that day.
I realized that
I never really knew
you.
Because if you were like that,
then doesn't that mean
that's how you really were?
You were just another
pretender.
You were after
fame.
And the money
corrupted you.
And the attention
blinded you.
And you forgot
who you were,
who you used to be.
You became a bully,
a monster,
twisted by popularity.
You became
'superior',
unshakable,
unapproachable,
too busy for lowlifes like me,
snappy.
And you had forgotten how to
be kind,
make time for others,
try to understand the feelings of others,
just be you,
just be my friend.
And one day,
you
fell.
Because that was inevitable.
Because
everything
falls
eventually.
And you weren't sure
how to live.
Because you
didn't have
what you had.
Because you forgot
how to be kind,
how to make time for others,
how to try to understand the feelings of others,
how to just be
you,
how to just be
my friend.
And those weren't skills that could be
taught.
Once upon a time,
you had a
friend.
And once upon a time,
you
left
her.
Once upon a time,
you became
popular.
And once upon a time,
you
fell, like everything else.
Once upon a time,
you
became
nothing.
And once upon a time,
you tried to
fix yourself.
But nothing worked.
