letters to the boy i once loved
maybe when the storm hits you
you’ll understand how i felt
pacing around the room trying
not to scream while tearing off my skin-
the stupid imprint of your bones on mine
still feels fresh;
i still find myself missing the cigarette kisses
along with the whiskey smelling jacket
that always seemed to find their way on my
shoulders
we could have been lovers who slept with
their limbs tangled-
while stealing each others breaths when
they shouted vows from opposite sides
of the world–
lovers who were lucky enough to roam the
sea without the fear of the
other one drowning
we could have been that;
only the storm hit me first
while you took cover from the
rushing water who seemed to shake
me until i lost the taste of your lips
