Being a Girl
when I was a girl,
I saw the world in a different light.
I saw it as a spectrum of hope,
happiness,
inspiration.
when I was a girl,
I thought the world
was incredible.
I thought it was amazing
how happy
everyone was,
or so it seemed.
and here I am now,
not a girl,
faced with the
cold truth.
the world is not happy.
the world is not hopeful.
the world is not inspiring.
the world is cold.
the world is uninviting.
the world is a bottomless pit of despair
and pain
that we are doomed to fall
into.
I wish I were a girl again.
