They say I’m a dreamer, lost in my mind
They say I’m distracted, I’ll fall behind

I tell them I’m different, creative, I’m fine!
I’m only a prisoner who’s locked in my mind

They say I am struggling, there’s a solution for that
They say they can help me, find what I’m lacking inside

I say I am searching, it does not make me lost
I say that all people take time to consider their thoughts

They say all people think, think about life
But none of them spend all day, hidden inside

I tell them I’m healthy, I’m not a bad kid
I tell them I’m thoughtful, it’s not unusual

I tell them I’m normal, I swear I am!
What did I do to be questioned like this?

They tell me they’re worried, they just want to help
They want me to spend more time outside

I say that I go outside all of the time
In my mind, there’s a door, open, unlocked

I tell them I wander and meet all my friends
The thoughts that enter and leave through the door in my head

They tell me enough! Enough have we heard!
You need to get up, go into the world

I tell them that they can force me outside
But never can they make me leave my own mind
