I am nothing but a chapter

For you I was a chapter
A part of your life so brief,
You had no idea you stole
My heart so quickly like a theif

For me you were the book
I kept turning page by page
Never even imagining
By the end you'd disengage

Each sentence I read was delicate
Like a sweet melody of words
You and I were free to fly
As free as two blue birds

I thought the book would
never end, and go on forever
But you shut the book tightly
And now my heart is severed.

You left me all alone
With only the pages to mend
Together my broken heart
Why did it have to end?

It's very well written and structured and the rhyming really gave it a flow and the whole idea of it is touching. Keep Writing!

This poem is very well written. :) I love the last two stanzas. I especially like the lines, "But you shut the book tightly/And now my heart is severed." Great job!

“Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it.
But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.”
― Lauren Oliver, Before I Fall

Wonderful poem! I love the book metaphor you use to demonstrate the ending of a relationship, it's perfect. The only line that seemed to be a little off on timing was "My heart so quickly like a theif". Overall, I loved it. 5/5
