the ocean parallel MAG
which are we –
under the sky or under the sea?
maybe we're the creatures who come up
for air by accident –
only instead of coming up to the surface,
we seep down into the
depths of the sky and take deep breaths of dark, cold oxygen.
we have towering mountains and deep
valleys, like at the bottom
of the ocean, and we're teeming with life and buzzing with energy
and murdering each other like savages.
it's truly a parallel – we go to the sea to
travel or marvel at the beauty,
but the mammals come up to our alternate universe to die.
maybe they're running from their lives, too.
i do believe that the ravenous sharks who roam the blue waters
looking for prey
are much less ruthless and fatal than the monsters
who walk on land with coy smiles
and deceiving eyes.
