What is a poem?

I don't get poems
They confuse me
Some are funny and
Some are sad
And some are just down right
Wacky
But we won't know for sure
Until you write something tacky
Ha! What am I talking about
Just laying about
doing nothing all day
Typing and singing.
It seems that my mind
Has wondered away
So I ask you
Where was yours today?
See what I mean?
Poems are running everywhere
Try and catch them
And quickly! Write them down!
As they scatter
You don't know what they mean
Ones going up, ones going down.
Oh, what shall you do?!
