One Million, Thirteen Thousand,
Nine hundred thirteen.
The estimated number of
words in the English language,
yet so little is ever really said.

Pages on Pages of emptiness,
so many thoughts fill the mind,
but for some reason nothing
comes out. Is it the lack of
opportunity? Or fear that no
one will listen.

And when you do open your
mouth, finally, a time to speak
your mind, a quick interruption,
brings everything you were
about to say, to full halt. No more
words, just utter silence.

And when you type them out,
do you feel free? Or caged
and restricted, because these
aren’t the words you want to
say, only those necessary
to write an essay.
