“A doctor once told me I feel too much. I said, so does god. that’s why you can see the grand canyon from the moon.”
― Andrea Gibson

All my head points to
as I lie, half awake through these
purple flannel covers
is wondering
if you still are too.

And, if so, why?
or when or what or where or
who or how or whatever.
As long as we are.

To me, your eyes cry
Louder than a single star
soaring through the night sky
your hair warms me in the coolest hour
even when I like the cold
You taught me the difference between
safety and comfort.

And then we break all the rules
just to make us feel cool
and now I think,
Back to the days
when juice came in boxes
not smashed through glass and back again
to when I realized which one
is really more mature.

You told me to wait,
Wait until I'm older.
It was not until I learned
I would have to re-pierce
my own ears
with every stone that I realized
What you meant:
It's not me who needs growing,
but they who need dying.

I'd rather be deaf than ignorant,
blind than colorblind,
a philosophist than a scientist,
curious than foolish,
brown-naked than elegant.
And these things are all the same.
But I would do anything for you.

I'll buy 10,000 measuring cups so I'll know
how much milk to measure out in your coffee
until I've done it
for so many mornings
That I no longer need a measuring cup
to measure our love because
It overflows
and burns the freckles off your hand -
They are oh-so precious and imperfect.

Precious like
One more of the "buts" you'll find
when you get to know a person
just a little too well but,
so what?
I'm willing to take that risk;
I'll risk it for you - no -
I'll risk it For Us.

This one is really special to me. Everyone has their imperfections, but they are often attributes that others see as some of their best qualities and love the most. Nothing is reality; everything is reality. Accept exceptions, forgive flawlessness.
