what is high school?
for that matter what is life?
what are grades and tears and laughs,
and what is silence,
sweet silence?
not the bitter empty kind that hangs in the air
and sucks the breath out of every lip
and takes the rose out of every cheek

the happy fulfilling silence where you just look around and smile
and then you start to laugh
and suddenly everything that was wrong becomes right
and enemies are friends
and everyone is in love

in love with the sky
and the birds and the grass
and in love with each other
and all that life has to offer
and for one moment this great big world stops spinning
and there is sickly sweet silence
that tastes like ripe summer strawberries
and peaches
and ice cream
and lemonade
and love.
