Lingering
There you are
In my mind
Again.
I cannot control it anymore.
Every time I hear a slow song,
Or lay in my bed
Or just breathe
Your face comes bubbling up to the surface.
Like a book I read ages ago,
That I just now remember how great it was.
Of course, you are nothing like a book.
You are good and evil,
Heaven and Hell.
Heaven for your kindness, your touch, your smile.
Hell for the way you are constantly in my mind.
Torturing me with every kiss, every embrace.
I don’t think you will ever leave me.
Do you want to?
Am I with you?
Those questions haunt me more than any spirit ever could.
I cannot move on.
Your words are not about me anymore.
Words of regret, and longing for someone.
That is no longer me.
And it probably never will be again.
But my words will always be you.
