To Give Up... Or To Hold On
Pain is an internal pit of Hell,
Where the flames get hotter and hotter
Until the heat becomes unbearable.
The blood that seeps from underneath
Your gnawed fingernails
Coats your tongue
As the ashes of dead and forgotten hope
Swirl through the bleak, gray skies of your subconscious.
Every day, the executioners noose squeezes tighter and tighter
As you struggle to cling to the barbed thread of sanity,
The spikes cutting deeper and deeper into the flesh of your palms
The longer you try to hold on.
