Fear
Holding me back from the first reach
Racing
My heart leaves me without speech
Deciding
That the fear isn't enough
Reaching
For the first branch is always tough
Courage
Leads me to proceed
Adrenaline
Gives me all that I need
Reaching
New heights makes me feel alive
Peering
Like a bird about to dive
Torn
Between safety and danger
Deciding
To climb higher would be a game changer
Grasping
The uppermost limb
Dreading
For my world to become grim
Hearing
The snapping of the twig
Knowing
My fears were too big
Flailing
My arms like a bird in a plunge to their death
Colliding
With the earth with my final breath

Everyone always believes that the thrill is in the climb, but the fear that accompanies is always left unsaid.
