Moving On
Over a year,
Was the time it took.
Holding your hoodie,
Blue, wrinkled, stained,
Forgetting its old scent.
An object once giving me
Safety, acceptance.
No more special powers.
No more safe haven.
Sliding it off the hanger,
Making room for new clothes,
My stomach doesn't tighten up,
My heart doesn't stop as it used to.
Simple objects representing emotion,
Go back to their original purpose.
Holding your hoodie,
Blue, wrinkled, stained,
It's time to move on.
