Dream with my eyes open.
Sleep when I'm dead.
Love who my hearts chosen.
Conquer what lies ahead.

The waves were slow
The ship coasted
Time slowed
There we floated

The air filled with
Laughter, love, and delight
We knew, we felt
This was right

The ship was quiet
Then on came another
Who invited her?
My lover’s mother

She came and we talked
Just her, him, and I
It simply got awkward
She almost made me cry

Told me I wasn’t good enough
To leave her son alone
She threw me a glare
My body froze to the bone

I couldn’t just leave him!
Without him, my life was a bore
Then she said “Wait!
There’s someone at the door!”

There it opened
Walked in – not a mister
To my dismay
It was his sister

She came and we talked
Just her, him, her, and I
Two hours later
I was ready to die

The wind picked up
He left to his room
The ship started swaying
I hid and could feel the doom

My heart started racing
The ship leaned to one side
All I could hear was
Their words threatening my life

He came and found me
I felt the ship filling and falling apart
There’s nothing I could do
Breathing was getting hard

We all knew it was coming
Their words pinned my heart
The ship that sank
Tore my world apart
