I stared silently,
At the blank paper in front of me,
The letter I had to send to the poor young man's family,
I begged and pleaded silently,
"Don't make me write it,
Don't make me write it,"
Hoping for a miracle,
For words to appear,
My hand refused to pick up the pen,
I was tired of this writing letters to poor families,
And yet,
There were always more,
If only this war could end,
If only the poor man could come back to life,
If only I didn't have to,
Write,
This,
One,
Letter

I have family who are in the army and I know that there are some things that you see that can completely change you. This poem is for all of the people who have died in wars or have family or friends that have died in wars. Their service will always be remembered even if their names are forgotten.

Ooh, chilling!! Btw, I like the last sentence of your little note. That's an amazing concept, don't you think? I really really like this poem. Like really. Anything that has to do with our country or the armed forces really just hits home in my heart. I don't know why. This poem was clever and made me want to cry along with the narrator. I enjoyed this thoroughly, nice job.
